13 Trends for 2013

From the runway to your TV screen here are 13 big fashion and beauty trends for 2013. 

1. Black and White 

In their quest for new colors many designers have returned to the basics: black and white. This trend is anything but boring as it involves pairing the colors in new ways, with bold patterns and color blocking to give the trend a mod feel.

Moon Geun Young wears a lovely black and white dress on Cheongdamdong Alice.

Girls' Generation all wore the trend to the the 21st Seoul Music Awards.




2. Emerald Green

Pantone, the authority on color, named Emerald the hottest hue of 2013. Take inspiration from stars and go bold like Kim Kardashian in a green peplum dress. 

"Faith" star and host of new Korean talk show "Incarnation" Kim Hee Sun stood out from the crowd at London fashion week in an emerald trench. 




3. Wedge Sneakers

High top wedge sneakers became big last year when high-end labels like Isabel Marant and Marc Jacobs debuted the style. But with affordable labels making the style the trend is huge, with everyone from pop stars to models rocking the casual comfy shoes. 

Girls' Generation Sooyoung was snapped wearing the sneakers in her stylish airport fashion, as was Kara's Goo Hara.



4. Braided Hair

Beautiful braids can highlight your face or just keep your wild hair tame on a bad hair day. 

On 'That Winter the Wind Blows' Jung Eun Ji showcased a messy side braid. Singer Rihanna's classic side braid takes a twist with her vibrant red hair color and emerald green earrings. 




5. Bright Lips

Nothing says Spring like a bright bold pout. So pucker up with fun lip colors from fuchsia to classic red. 

So Jin of Girls Day brightened her makeup look with pretty pink. Hayley Williams of Paramore matched her lips to her bright red hair. 




6. Peek-a-boo cutouts


Strategically styled cut-outs can give the illusion of showing skin in a demure tasteful wayTake a peek at how stars are wearing this trend. 

Lee Seung Yeon rocked the trend on the red carpet showing how women of all ages can wear the trend. Shu-Qi, star of My Wife is a Gangster 3 wore an elegant black dress to the West-Beijing Press Conference. 



7. Ladylike Handbags

These top-handled bags have a timeless hold on style. Say goodbye to massive slouchy bags and pare down your look to an instant classic. 

Brown Eyed Girls' Ga In dresses up the look for the March issue of Vogue Girl Korea. In 'I Do I Do' Kim Sun Ah conquers the fashion world with an array of ladylike handbags. 




8. Cobalt Blue

This gorgeous rich hue is full of glamourous pop. This trend will brighten up any look. Wear the pop of color like Eun-Joo's coat in the K-drama "I Miss You" and you will stand out from the winter crowd. Or go dramatic like R&B singer  Ailee's cobalt blue gown at the Seoul Music Awards. 




9. Bouncing Bobs 

This short face-framing trend shows no signs of slowing down. 

Brown Eyed Girls’ member JeA recently uploaded a photo showcasing her new shorter locks. "Lipstick Jungle's" Lindsay Prices looks vivacious and adorable despite her character's struggles in the fast-paced world of Manhattan. 




10. Hair accessories 

Whether you are wearing your hair up or down, hair accessories are an easy way to play up your look. 

"In Flower Boy Next DoorPark Soo Jin loves to accent her hair with sparkly headbands. Moon Geun Young often wore adorable hair bows on "Cheongdamdong Alice




11. Nail Art

Girls have having lots of fun with accessorizing their fingertips. This trend is a perfect way to show your individuality. Expect to see many creative manicures on the Oscar Red Carpet this weekend. 

Kara’s Nicole uploaded a picture of her new bling nail art to her Twitter. This trend isn't just for the girls as Big Bang's G-Dragon displayed his gold nail art. 




12. Lace

Used as both an accent and the main fabric, lace has been seen all over the runways and on celebrities. From bold black lace to subtle lace prints, there are many ways to wear the trend. 

Kate Middleton wowed in a dress with a full lace back. Hyuna of 4 Minute looked stunning in a black lace dress she wore in a Vogue Girl fashion shoot. 





13. Statement Necklace

From crystals to colorful multi-layer stones, statement necklaces are an easy way to add a pop to a basic outfit. 

Park Shi Yeon’s accessories in "Nice Guy" episode 12 nicely match the leather details of her top. In "I Miss You"  episode 8, Yoon Eun Hye wears her colorful statement necklace on top of her cobalt blue sweater dress. The gemstones of the necklace compliment her on-trend bright lips.
